A student needs to have the following qualifications to be eligible for entrance to an engineering degree course:
- Passed 12th standard from a recognised school
- Minimum 50% marks in 12th exams
- In 11th & 12th standard, a student must have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry subjects
- For Biomedical engineering, a student needs to have studied Biology as well as a subject in 11th & 12th standard
Engineering Entrance Exams for India
A student needs to pass an entrance exam in order to get admission into an engineering college in India. Most national and state level colleges accept one of these tests for admission. However, some colleges have their own admission exams as well.

The 1st step for admission to an engineering degree is to pass the relevant admission test.
Private colleges offer direct admission under management quote, however, they have a higher fee structure that those who take admission via entrance exams.
Some college have centralised admission process, that is, they accept students based on their class 12th scores, and do not require a student to take a separate entrance exam for admission.
Most national and state level colleges accept the JEE Mains exams passing results for admission. The next steps are:

- Register for and attend the counselling session – from the list of colleges you qualify for, select one
- Complete the Admission Form and Fee payment process
- Submit requisite documents

Eligibility Requirement for Masters in Abroad
